As a designer, I have long used woven tapestries as a source of inspiration for my knitting. They have inspired sock, mitten, and cardigan patterns. What fascinates me about these somewhat old-fashioned tapestries is how much they have in common with knitting techniques. This applies to both pattern shapes and materials, i.e., yarn. First and foremost, the technique can also be easily transferred to knitting, as it often results in beautiful, rhythmic, and simple patterns where colors can be combined very easily. Here, it is executed with a balance between muted blue tones combined with sharp white and yellow, which gives both a lively and understated expression.
